Shrug, cape, caplet, poncho, call them what you want just make sure to have one for winter!! These perfect winter pieces are a great warm layer and come in a variety of styles! The first one I want to talk about is this adorable white cable knit with fringe poncho.  I got this at Target for around $15 and it is so perfect and casual for running around town! Always make sure to put a form-fitting shirt underneath so that you do not add bulk.  I paired this simple outfit with dark skinny jeans and some fun boots for an easy weekend chic look.

The next cape I found was from TJ Maxx for only $40!! I got it a few weeks ago so it may still be there.  What I love about this piece is that you can dress it up or down.  If you are dressing up a cape since it is already vintage inspired add a big brooch! My grandma had these awesome ones in her basement but lots of places sell vintage looking ones. The top of the picture is the new ones and the bottom are my grandmas. I think this would look so nice over a camel or beige dress.  Here I have a flirty BCBG dress that I paired with green pumps to tie the cape with it and then I added simply jewelry. I always get the question about pantyhose, are they a do or a don’t?   I would have full heartedly said NO a few months ago but Kate Middleton and celebs have started sporting them again so they are ok to do as long as you do not get the way too light ones.  Pick something a shade darker then your skin, hey its winter we are all pale if you are going to wear hose make your legs look like they have a little sun!  I personally have not turned to wearing nude colored pantyhose yet but still opt for a good sunless tanner.  With this outfit you can also do brown tights with the tall brown boots if its really chilly out.  Ladies with some red in your hair this green will look amazing on you! This look is so perfect for a lunch with the girls, a more casual work party or even a date night!

Speaking of vintage, while poking around my grandmas basement I found this amazing piece!! I was told these fur caplets were very popular and women would often place there initials on the inside.  If you do not have a grandma that hoards things again try a vintage shop they are so fun to rummage around in.  Chicago has some of the best I’ve been to and we would be happy to share a few with you if anyone leaves in that area.  This vintage piece can look so chic by pairing it with some black leather leggings, a cream top and boots of your choice.  Add a statement cuff for an extra pop and you now have a fabulous outfit for a night out on the town!!  I also had to post a picture of the white cape that I wore at my wedding that I found in a Chicago vintage shop and will now be wearing out like my other capes.  If you are having a winter wedding I really think a white cape has the whole winter wonderland fairytale feel and hey it keeps you warm!
